SWiRLS is based at Campion School and is the extended services cluster of schools for South Leamington Spa and includes Bishops Tachbrook and Radford Semele.

  The aim of SWiRLS is to provide high quality collaboration between the schools to ensure a fully compliant extended schools programme. This covers curriculum, extra-curricular activities, family support and community involvement.

The core work of SWiRLS includes curriculum, out of school activities, pupil and family support, homework clubs and a range of intergenerational and community activities.

    Upcoming Events

    • Green Goo Party

      The children that have written stories for the book "Green Goo Ate My Parents" have been invited to a launch party for the book at Campion School on Wednesday 22nd February. The book has stories from over 70 pupils from year 2 pupils at Briar Hill through all year groups to year 8 pupils at Campion.

    • Arts Centre to Open

      SWiRLS are opening a new Children's Art Gallery and Improving Personal Excellence Centre in May. For details click here.

    • Olympic Summer Art Exhibition

      Following on the success of our last summer exhibition "City Safari" we have plans in place for another exhibition for this summer. We have booked the Temperate House again to host our Olympic themed arts over the school holidays.

      Our next book is a book of poems written by children. If you have a poem you think is good enough then send it to us at SWiRLS by May Bank Holiday.

    • Fifth Edition of Newspaper Is Out

      The December 2011 issue of our community newspaper has been published and distributed. They have been sent to all schools in our area as well as residential homes and community centres in South Leamington.

    • Green Goo Ate My Parents

      Over the last six months pupils at schools in our cluster have been writing stories inspired by local author Simon Cheshire and now all their hard work has paid off as their stories have been turned into a paperback book with the title Green Goo Ate My Parents.

    • City Safari

      Schools in the cluster were given either a giraffe, elephant, lizard or tree to decorate to form part of our City Safari exhibition over the summer in the Jephson Garden Temperate House. The exhibition lasted all summer and was open to the public every day. The animals were hidden amongst the trees and plants in the borders of the glasshouse.

    • Speed Art Day 2011

      Over 400 pupils and 30 senior citizens came to Campion School for a Speed Art Day where they could try a variety of workshops run by artists. There was a watercolour artist, a pastel artist, an origami expert and cartoon workshops. 

      Each activity lasted an hour and schools could spend all day doing different activities or just book in for one of the workshops.

    • Third Screening at Warwick Arts

      Schools in South Leamington were invited back to Warwick Arts Centre for the third FilmClub event. Following on from screenings of Nativity! last year and Secret of the Kells in the summer our pupils went back in December to watch The Muppets Christmas Carol.

    • Campion School Nature Reserve

      Campion School has a nature reserve which can be visited by the cluster schools in the area.

    • Cluster Aim For Slice of Sherwood Forest

      The cluster is hoping to be able to buy its own small piece of Sherwood Forest so that pupils can go there to bring life to subjects such as art, science, sport and creative writing.

    • World Book Night 2012

      We have been selected by World Book Night to distribute their free books. This year we have been allocated Bernard Cornwall's 'Harlequin'. There is a brief synopsis below. We will be arranging our book afternoon soon. Come along and hear pupils read and then recieve your free book. Further details to follow.

    • Community Involvement

      We are continuing with the reading club for the seniors.

    • World Book Day 2011

      World Book Night 2011 was celebrated by seniors listening to children reading before being given their own free books.

    • February Half Term
      There are lots of free activities for everybody, young or old, to enjoy at Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum during the Half Term Holidays.
    • Homework Club

      We run a homework club at the Sydni Centre on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 4pm until 5pm.

    • Road Safety

      SWiRLS has been working with Jean Roberts of Roadwise to pilot new road safety workshops for schools in our cluster.

    • Family Counselling

      SWiRLS has funded family counselling sessions for parents and children of the schools in the cluster. SWiRLS is currently paying the full cost of each session.
